Most likely the Number One reason you’re visiting the “Beautiful By Nature” Turks and Caicos Islands is to bask in the sun and wade in the crystal clear, turquoise waters. We hear you! The Turks and Caicos Islands boast some of the most incredible beaches in the world. In fact, Grace Bay Beach has been named the number one beach in the world several times! We don’t call it Our Happy Place for nothing!!
To get you started on your beach day adventures, enjoy this quick overview on what we’d consider the four main beaches (in no particular order) on The Island of Providenciales.
With many, many more beaches to explore in Turks and Caicos, we’ll be following up with our favorites in Provo, the must visit spots of North and Middle Caicos and of course some of the fabulous beaches surrounding the nearby Cays. For now, enjoy this little escape to the first of many, beautiful beaches in Turks and Caicos.
Grace Bay Beach…you had us at ‘hello…’ You’ve landed in Turks and Caicos for the first time and there’s a good chance you’re staying at one of the beautiful resorts or Villas on Grace Bay Beach. What’s described by many as The Main Attraction, we assure you, you won’t be disappointed. The powdery white sand and calm turquoise waters of Grace Bay Beach are part of the Princess Alexandra National Park, spanning a little over 3 miles long. The third largest Barrier Reef sits about a mile off shore creating the still beauty of this beach. Grace Bay Beach hosts an abundance of water activities but thankfully, it’s never overcrowded. You can chill for the day or head up, up, up in a para-sail! The choice is yours! Grace Bay Beach offers a little bit of everything for everybody. Grace Bay Beach consists of quite a few secondary beaches outside the main stretch, which totals the span of approximately 12 miles of beach! We’ll share those 'not to be missed' spots in another blog, but for now, sit back, relax and enjoy Grace Bay Beach, the number one beach in the world.
Oh Taylor Bay...where have you been all my life? You know that beach you see in magazines? The one with untouched beaches? The one with not a soul on them? Just you and your footprints with an entire beach to yourself? You know the one we're talking about right? That's Taylor Bay Beach! Ridiculously warm, shallow water stretches out as far as you can see. With a few villas sitting back in the brush, it's just you the sand and sea. A true beach getaway to escape reality. Depending on the tide, it can be quite a walk out to reach a perfect spot to float! It's that shallow! Take your to go drink with you as it could be a long way back LOL! Since there are no amenities at Taylor Bay Beach, we'd suggest you pack a few of your Beach Essentials for an optimal beach day. Taylor Bay Beach is quite literally, paradise.
Beautiful Sapodilla Bay Beach. Probably one of our personal top three beaches, it's another absolute gem, located quite close to Taylor Bay. Sapodilla Bay Beach is a beautiful stretch of glorious white sand and clear, calm water. Like Taylor Bay, you can walk out for days and only be up to your waist in water. Take your inflatable out for a float to take in the sights of the turquoise horizon or day dream as you pick out your perfect villa along the shoreline. For that matter, just walk out and have a seat, it’s so shallow! If you haven’t packed a little snack or beverages, you’ll appreciate the few local amenities at Sapodilla Bay Beach. Though this beach used to be unspoiled, there’s now a couple of pop up food vendors and a place to order drinks. You can rent a beach bed and umbrella, jet skis along with other non-motorized water sports if you like. If you’re like us and you pack your bags for the day at the beach, just be mindful of where you’re setting up for your beach day. Yes, the beaches are all public beaches in Turks and Caicos, but I’m sure those villa guests would appreciate you not setting up directly in front of their beach beds. It’s a wide stretch of beach so you shouldn’t have any problem finding a nice open spot for yourself.
Long Bay Beach is a Kite Boarders paradise! If you're looking for an active beach day, Long Bay Beach is the beach for you! Being a little windier on this stretch of beach, it's the ideal location for kite boarding beginners and pro's alike. With a vast stretch of beach and being approximately only 3 feet deep for a great distance offshore, there's plenty of room for everyone to safely spend a great day in the water. If you're interested in giving Kite Boarding a try, there's plenty of operations set up on the beach that can answer all your questions. On any given day, if you look up and over towards Long Bay Beach you'll see the skies full of Kites! While we don't kite board, we always make a point of heading over to Long Bay Beach for a few hours to bask in the sun and watch all the activity. So much going on, it's great to just sit and watch it all happen. Pack a lunch or pop into the Shore Club for a bite, you'll be sure to have an amazing day on Long Bay Beach.
Fun Fact: Long Bay Beach is where you'll find "The Sign"
